about me

My name is Megan -but most people call me Moggy- and I am a Front-end Developer, Web Designer, SEO Specialist and Social Media Marketer. I graduated in May 2012 from SUNY Purchase College's New Media BA program. After learning about the history and social implications of the internet in addition to practical development and design skills, I decided to pursue Web Development.

Since graduating I have worked on various in-house and freelance web projects. Currently, I am working as a front-end developer at Perfect Pet Match, taking PSD design files and converting them into dynamic HTML and CSS. I also have an in-house freelance development position at Underline Communications. Underline has given me the opportunity to work with large clients like American Express to create HTML newsletters and set up mailings via Cheetahmail. In Fall 2012, I worked as a Marketing Communications Specialist at Rakuten's LinkShare. I used my web design and development skills to create the newsletter copy between advertisers and publishers. I had to opportunity to create newsletters for large clients like Walmart, Macys and Starbucks. After LinkShare, I went on to design and develop websites for Really Good™ Fruit Spreads and Maggie the Barber. I also signed on as a web design consultant for Jay Ackerman Photography and Tax Reduction Services. I am always looking for a good challenge and have yet to settle down into one set career path.

During the summer of 2011, I decided to create a web design class with the help of my local recreation center. I taught small groups of locals how to write in the languages of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as well as how to upload documents to the web via FTP. Teaching HTML, CSS and JavaScript gave me the confidence I needed to begin creating freelance web sites for local businesses. I've made websites for South Fork Weddings, Really Good™ Fruit Spreads, and Maggie the Barber to name a few. After interning with Columbia Records' Digital Marketing department, I decided to take my advanced knowledge of SEO and Social Media and help Jay Ackerman Photography and Cathy Glass Designs boost their online presence.

In my free time I like to make short experimental videos and compose original soundtracks. I've screened my work at the Hamptons International Film Festival and Five Towns College Film Festival and won first place awards at Guild Hall Film Festival, East End Student Film Project and Strictly Students Film Festival. I was accepted to Berklee College's Songwriting program but had to decline due to extenuating circumstances.

My wide variety of interests and strengths give me a very unique take on web design and development. I'm not afraid to think out of the box and take design risks that are not only internet-current but also nostalgic. Front-End Development
My main area of expertise is in HTML, CSS and Javascript. I offer conversion of PSD design files into dynamic HTML files as well as HTML updates via many popular content management systems such as WordPress or Drupal.

Website Design
In addition to the development of websites, I also offer design services. You have the option to choose a unique design based on your style preferences or to start from a basic template that can be customized to fit your needs.

E-Newsletters
Want to create a better relationship with your users/customers? E-newsletters are the perfect way to keep your brand relevant in their daily lives. I have created designed and developed e-newsletters for Tax Reduction Services, Perfect Pet Match, American Express, Walmart, Starbucks, and Macys. I also have experience testing newsletters via EmailonAcid and Campaign Monitor and creating mailings with Cheetahmail.

Back-End Development
Websites are more often than not constantly changing. With a basic website that remains static, you need to hire someone to go in and make changes for you. Back-End Development provides an easy way for you to go in and make changes yourself. I use the widely popular and open-source content management system WordPress to integrate a CMS into your website.

Webmaster
Have a website but not enough time to go in and make changes? I offer webmaster services which gives you the freedom to state what you want changed and have me on-call to update it within 24 hours of notification whether or not you have a CMS.

Search Engine Optimization
With every website I develop, I implement the highest standards of SEO. All of my clients appear on the first page of Google, Yahoo, and Bing with their desired keywords. Using a combination of meta data, strategically placed keywords, linking techniques, and Google Analytics I am able to make your website come to the front of the internet marketplace.

Digital Marketing
Having an online presence outside of a website is necessary in today's digital world. Having an active Twitter and Facebook page not only keeps people interested in your brand, but it also helps your search engine ranking. I offer digital marketing packages that include the creation of these pages, the daily monitoring and updating of your social networks, and weekly/monthly promotions to keep people interested.
